Military Police to Apprehend Producers of Ridiculous Video Documentary

(Press Release)

Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), investigating into the release of a video documentary on rigorous military training sessions for woman recruits to the Internet by a few interested elements, have now found that the highly likely stage-managed training in question, has been devised by a group of persons around October in 2012 with the express intention of bringing the Army into disrepute and condemnation.

On being informed on 4 March 2014, the Army Headquarters directed the SLCMP to launch an immediate investigation into the video documentary after the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, brought the matter to the notice of the SLCMP.

In order to mould balanced, physically fit and thoroughly disciplined soldiers, Sri Lanka Army with the able guidance and supervision of trained instructors, continues its training programmes, based on well-structured comprehensive training modules, enabling those soldiers to overcome any current and future challenges through meticulously programmed such training sessions.

Commander of the Army, taking a stern view on those trying to tarnish and discredit the Army by producing such stage-managed harassment and uncivilized treatment on woman soldiers under training, affirms that all those involved in this incident soon after SLCMP investigations, would be brought to justice and dealt with severely as per provisions of the Army Act, irrespective of their ranks.
