Military Intelligence Corps Honours their Achievers


Outstanding achievements of the sportsmen and sportswomen of the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) during the years 2011 and 2012 were recognized, saluting them at a glittering 'Colours Night' organized by the MIC at Sri Sambuddhatwa Jayanthi hall in Colombo on Friday (5).

The event felicitated 25 MIC achievers in the presence of a large gathering, headed by Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, MIC Colonel Commandant as the Chief Guest, together with former Commander of the Army and founder of the MIC General (Retd) L.P. Balagalle, past MIC Colonel Commandants, Major General (Retd) S.D. Tennakoon, Chief of National Intelligence Major General (Retd) H.K.G. Hendavitharana and Major General (Retd) A.S.M. Zaheer who graced the gala night as Guests of Honour. Mrs Sepali Samarasinghe, spouse of Major General Prasad Samarasinghe was also present.

During the event, those 25 outstanding achievers in sports who represented the SLA and the Corps in Baseball, Rowing, Football, Taekwondo, Hockey, Wushu and Military Para Sports received Colours.

Director General Military Intelligence Major General G.V.D.U.A. Perera was also associated with the event.

A large number of senior officers, other ranks and family member of award recipients were present at the occasion.
