Medical Campaign & Distribution of Books for Libraries Benefit Civilians in Ampara

Rotary Club of Ampara and Friend-in-Need Society of Colombo jointly organized a medical camp in collaboration with Army troops in the 24 Division in Malwatte, Ampara of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E).

The medical camp was organized by the 241 Brigade troops during 4-6 May 2018 at Central Camp General Hospital, Uhana.

15 medical staff from Friend-in-Need Society, Rotary Club and troops from 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) Battalion participated in this charity work.

More than 675 civilians sought assistance from the camp and they were immensely benefited by the project.

During the programme, 250 spectacles were distributed free of charge among the participants. 671 patients were examined for hypertension and diabetes. In addition, 40 more needy amputated people received prosthesis legs.

At the invitation of the President of Rotary Club Ampara, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Major General L.M Mudalige attended this worthy cause.

GOC, 24 Division distributed Rs 10,000/- worth of printed books also for 10 school libraries for the benefit of students in Uhana area.

All donations were patronized by Colombo Friend-in-Need Society and Rotary Club Ampara.
