To coincide with the ongoing ‘Wana Ropa’ national tree planting drive, Mechanized Infantry Regiment at Dambulla launched a tree sapling planting programme inside the Regimental Centre premises on Sunday (4).
The event was organized under the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment Brigadier Sumith Atapattu and close supervision of the Overlooking Centre Commandant Lieutenant Colonel K.K.S Perakum.
The project was sponsored by Defence Services Disabled Officers Association. During the brief ceremony, headed by the Colonel of the Regiment, Senior Officers and Other Ranks who are serving in the Regimental Centre planted about 1800 saplings as the 1st phase of the programme.
