Marriage Anniversary Marks Gifting of a House to a Disable War Hero

THE foundation stone for construction of a new house for a partly disable War Hero was laid by Mrs. Rani Jayathilaka, President Seva Vanitha Sinha Regiment Unit Thursday morning (17) in Kiribathkumbura, Kandy.

The sponsorship for the construction was to be borne by Mr and Mrs Gunaratne of Kandy on the eve of their forthcoming 50th marriage anniversary. They expect to complete the construction work and hand over the house to the War Hero Lance Corporal D.M.A.P. Dissanayake on 28th February 2010, the day of their marriage anniversary.

Lance Corporal Dissanayake, who belongs to 3rd Battalion of Sinha Regiment was injured due to an LTTE ambush in Nelliadi, Jaffna on 1st September 2006 while he was engaged in operational duties. His one eye lost sight and one ear went deaf as a result of this attack.
   
This noble deed was coordinated by the Seva Vanitha Sinha Regiment Unit in Kandy. The event was attended by Seva Vanitha members, the Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of Sinha Regiment.
