Major General Senarath Bandara assumed duties on Monday (01) as the 19th Commander Security Forces - East, amidst religious observances and traditional military formalities at SFHQ-East at Welikanda.
On his arrival, Major General Senarath Bandara was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of 4 Gemunu Watch after he was warmly received by Brigadier General Staff SF HQ-E Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa.
Amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by MahaSangha, the new Commander, Security Forces -East symbolically accepted his new appointment, placing his signature on an official document to signify inauguration of his new office. Later on, the Commander planted a sapling inside the Headquarters premises and left memories.
After a while, he made the customary address to the troops and urged them to take all possible health precautions against the virus while adhering to safety guidelines. Further, he stated the importance of performing the assigned duties with dedication and commitment and promotion of their professional skills through constant training as soldiers of this proud organization. Further, he also insisted the need for protection of the Army through maintenance of highest standards of discipline at all levels and requested all of them to carry out duties of the Security Force Headquarters-East in an efficient and effective manner.
