Low Income Family Receives a New Shelter

A new house was constructed by the troops of the 23 Division as a donation to a selected low-income family in the Welikanda area following a proposal of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 23 Division, Major General D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi.

The fully-furnished house was received by Mr Jayaratne, a father of three daughters who is suffering from a kidney infection.         

Many well-wishers contributed to the construction in many ways including the main donor Mr Rod Thambiah in Australia as expatriate.

On June (2), the GOC together with several officers participated in the simple house warming ceremony.
