"Learn Well &;amp; Lead the Country in the Future"; Army Commander Tells "Rantharu" Kids

THE SEVENTH pre-school sponsored by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) for the kids of Army families was declared open in the historical Galle Fort premises on Thursday (21).

Commander of the Army General Sarath Fonseka who graced the occasion as Chief Guest on the invitation of President SVAB Mrs. Anoma Fonseka opened the building cutting the ribbon at auspicious time amidst Seth Pirith chanted by the Maha Sangha.

After unveiling the plaque to mark the opening of the school and lighting the traditional coconut oil lamp, Gen. Sarath Fonseka enrolled the first child to the new “Rantharu” pre-school.

During his speech, Army Commander stressed that he contributed his share as the Commander of the Army to eliminate LTTE terrorism from the country while His Excellency the President took the brunt of the entire mission.

He remembered that state and military leadership that defeated the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world found their origin from the south.

Gen. Fonseka wished that, through the education received from this pre-school and patriotic attitudes inculcated through that education, future leaders could be produced to the country from this area. 

Senior members of the SVAB, Senior officers from the Army, Police and other government institutions and kids and their parents were present on the occasion.

This was the first official function of the Army Commander out of Colombo after his promotion to the four-star rank of General. 

Southern Wing of the SVAB will look after administration of the “Rantharu” pre-school.
