Kovil to Commence a Library in Army-Released House

A house, hitherto used by the Army in Jaffna was handed over back to the Ushan Murugan Kovil temple during a recent brief ceremony organized jointly by the 52 Division and 522 Brigade Headquarters for establishment of a library.

On the same occasion, the chief priest, Rev Kandaswamy at the temple donated two computer units to the Army for distribution among two visually-handicapped persons in the area.

At the invitation of the 52 Division and the 522 Brigade, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Security Force Commander - Jaffna, handed over the house symbolically and received both computers for distribution from the chief priest at the same occasion.

Army troops at the invitation of the clergy, offered their fullest cooperation to the temple for conduct of the annual festival on Sunday (17) and the clergy wanted to show their gratitude by organizing this donation.

The Army as part of its community-oriented projects has been at the forefront of extending assistance to conduct Kovil festivals and other sacred places in the peninsula.
