Kilinochchi Troops Participate in Tournaments

To sustain mental stability and endurance as well as the promotion of sports skills among soldiers serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), several tournaments for basketball, squash and badminton games were organized on Tuesday (12) at the SFHQ-KLN grounds. 

To be in line with a proposal made by the Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General Amal Karunasekara, the basketball tournament was organized by 573 Brigade and 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. 3 Gajaba Regiment (GR) and 7 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) players were selected to the finals and finally the SLASC team emerged champions in the basketball tournament.

The squash tournament was held between 57 Division team and 24 Gemunu Watch team and the 57 Division team won the squash tournament.

On the same day, the badminton tournament organized by 653 Brigade and 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) got underway. The 57 Division team and 10 SLLI team were selected for the finals. However, the 10 SLLI team became the winner in the badminton tournament.

Brigadier H.D.W Kariyawasam, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area -Kilinochchi (FMA-KLN) graced the occasion as the chief guest at the inauguration of the tournaments. 

General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and officers witnessed the tournaments.
