Kilinochchi Troops Contribute to Mosquito Control Programme

More than 150 Army personnel, including officers, serving the 57 Division and the 65 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) are now actively engaged in the ongoing National Dengue Control Week in the general areas of Kilinochchi town and Mulankavil in the past two days (April 4 - 5).

The project, launched on the directions of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi to be in parallel with the ongoing National Dengue Control Programme of the Ministry of Health, covered the Kilinochchi Public Market, Railway Station, Bus Stand, Kalmadunagar, Visuvamadunagar and Paranthan areas, served by troops of the 57 Division. For this project, a total of 130 Army personnel are taking part in close cooperation with health officials.

In the meantime, 19 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 65 Division conducted a similar campaign in Mulankavil area with the support of health officials and civilians on Tuesday (4). The cleaning programme covered the Murugan Kovil premises, public places and several other Hindu and Catholic religious places.
