20 (Voulunter) Vijayabhahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) cricketers snatched the 20 - 20 Soft Ball Cricket Trophy - 2019 in the tournament played with combined battalions serving Kiliochchi region and the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
The final match was played in the SFHQ-KLN cricket ground on Friday (20) and was witnessed by a large number of cricket fans and distinguished guests, including the Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
34 cricket teams representing all Divisions, Brigades and Battalions, deployed in the SFHQ-KLN area of responsibility competed in the tournament. Out of all the teams, 8 Sri Lanka Artillery and 20 (V) VIR team finally entered the decisive finals. During the final match, 20 (V) VIR won the trophy by 15 runs. Both teams were awarded trophies and certificates during the awarding ceremony. Commanding Officer, 9 Sri Lanka Army Services Corps and his Officers and men organized the tournament.
