Kilinochchi Commander Relinquishes Office to Take Over as DGGS

A Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour were awarded to the outgoing Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana at the SFHQ-KLN premises on Tuesday (6) in accordance with military traditions to mark his relinquishment of office as Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi to take over as the new Director General General Staff (DGGS) at the Army Headquarters in Colombo.

A ceremonial Guard Turnout presented by troops of the 1 Gajaba Regiment (GR) greeted the outgoing Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi on arrival at the premises and was accorded a Guard of Honour in keeping with military traditions as gestures of formalities.

During the military ceremony at the parade ground, the outgoing Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, symbolizing the formal relinquishment of office, handed over the official flag of the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi to his successor, Major General Ralph Nugera.

The outgoing Commander afterwards placed his signature in a formal document to symbolize the relinquishment of his office. The outgoing Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, delivered his farewell speech and commended all the Officers and Other Rankers for their unstinted cooperation and commitment during his tenure and requested the same to be extended to his successor in future too.

Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - Kilinochchi, General Officers Commanding, 57 and 66 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the event.
