A mega family get-together for all officers resident in the Panagoda, Kendalanda Married Quarters to coincide with the forthcoming National Sinhala and Tamil New Year got off at the premises throughout the whole day on Saturday (9).
The social event came about as a proposal of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) as one more project of the SFHQ-West where kids and children of all Army officers were given pride of place in the arrangement which was full of spirits and enthusiasm.
The fabulous event was graced by the Commander, SFHQ-West with the participation of many numbers of officers with their beloved families (300 families) to enjoy the pleasure of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
This event was comprised of a number of entertaining features and most of elders and kids enthusiastically participated in all the events such as blowing of balloons, musical chair competition, toffee collection, etc. Officers and their families were entertained to many party games in this merry-making, spirited and joyful events in the arrangement.
The musical show was performed by the Army No 1 band and coloured by the Army dancing troupe. The most significant event of this family get together was the raffle draw and the Commander, SFHQ-West, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe selected winners in the raffle draw and all attendees were eager to watch the winners in order to receive valuable prizes.
