Kandakadu Troops Plant Trees Along River Banks

One more phase of the ongoing tree planting programme, jointly launched by the Army in collaboration with ‘Wana Jeevi Surakum Padanama’ (foundation for conservation of wildlife), Electricity Board and Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, along wetlands and bunds of waterways and rivers, recently, completed the planting of 250 bamboo saplings by the side of the Kandakadu waterway, close to Welikanda.

Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock in the Army on the instructions of the Commander of the Army joined hands with other stakeholders for conservation of those wetlands through this project, which had already completed a few more phases, earlier with planting of thousands of other tree varieties.

All Officers and Other Rankers in the 6 (V) Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) serving the Kandakadu Farm took part in the conservation project, together with their Commanding Officer.
