Junior Command Course Students Visit Mullaittivu

A group of Officers, including 7 foreigners, currently attending the Junior Command Course on Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare (JCC CIJW) - No 20 at Maduruoya Army Training School (ATS) during a field visit to Mullaittivu area called at the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Monday (13).

Those student officers at first visited the SFHQ-MLT and received an update on current roles and tasks of the SFHQ-MLT with special focus on post-conflict developments, and how the troops were maintaining best relations with members of the civil community, etc.

Brigadier Pradeep Silva, Brigadier General Staff (BGS) on behalf of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SFHQ-MLT received them on arrival at the SFHQ-MLT.

Afterwards, the visiting course attendees visited the 59 and 64 Divisions Headquarters in Mullaittivu during the same day.

The following day of the visit (14), those student officers were facilitated to meet troops of the 23 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) serving in respective areas. They also got the opportunity to visit several key places of interest, related to different phases of the Humanitarian Operations before May 2009.

Foreign students of India, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan armies joined this familiarization tour in the company of their Sri Lankan counterparts.

Lieutenant Colonel Priyanjith Hennadige, Chief Instructor and Commanding Officer at Maduruoya ATS and instructors were associated with the tour to Mullaittivu area.
