Japanese Ambassador on Goodwill Visit to AHQ

HE Kenichi Suganuma, Ambassador of Japan Wednesday (18) afternoon paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the Army Headquarters (AHQ). 

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva extending a warm welcome to the envoy at the main entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat accompanied him to the Commander’s office before views on matters of bilateral importance were exchanged during a cordial meeting.

Commander of the Army, recalling historic relations that prevail between both countries expressed his gratitude to the support being given to Sri Lanka in different areas of its development.

The visiting Japanese envoy received a brief account on the present roles and tasks of the Army and a briefing on the overall security situation of the country.

The Japanese envoy assured his country’s continuing support to Sri Lanka and took the opportunity to extend his best wishes on the Sri Lanka Army. Captain M. Shigekawa, Defence Attaché to the Embassy of Japan was also in attendance during the meeting.

Towards the end of the friendly meeting, both of them exchanged mementos as tokens of goodwill and understanding.
