Jaffna’s Low-Income Group Civilians Get Sanitary Facilities

Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J), considering poor sanitary facilities, prevalent among a section of underprivileged civilians in remote areas took steps to build 27 new toilets for them with generosity, extended by the expatriate, Dr Uma Nataraja, domiciled in Australia.

The project was brought to completion by the donor with the support of troops, following coordination, made by Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna after explaining the need to the donor for such sanitation for low-income group families in the peninsula.

1 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops undertook the responsibility for construction of this much-needed sanitary need of poor civilians on the instructions of the VIR Commanding Officer and the SFHQ-J.

During a brief meeting with those beneficiaries on Friday (15), Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi announced the completion of the project and urged the beneficiaries to improve their sanitary habits with this facility awarded to them free of charge.

During the event at Kaleivani Community Centre in Velvetithurai, Jaffna, the Chief Guest donated 50 new chairs to the same community centre since this common place did not have enough seating facilities for the public.
