Jaffna Troops Release More Houses &;amp; Private Property

   
Several houses and plots of land, hitherto being occupied by 17 Gemunu Watch (17GW) Headquarters at Karampan, Kayts of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) are to be shortly released to their legitimate owners once the new Headquarters is established in a state land, close to Araly.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, SFHQ-J after opening the first phase of the new Headquarters complex which consists of the officers’ mess and the Commanding Officers’ chalet, said that once this project is completed, all houses and land plots could be released to the owners.

To-date, Sri Lanka Army has been paying rent to the owners for those houses, being used by the Army in Jaffna.

In a similar manner, a few months ago the 512 Brigade Headquarters in the Jaffna town vacated civil properties at Ariyalai, hitherto occupied by the Army and moved to a land, belonging to the former Jaffna Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya premises.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, SFHQ-J, in accordance with the government’s policy of releasing private lands and properties back to legitimate owners, had instructed all Divisions, Brigades and Units accordingly.
