Jaffna Troops Offer Blood for Surgeries of Patients

At the request of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital authorities, troops of the 52 Division organized a blood donation campaign to fulfill requirements of the blood bank on Wednesday (1) at the 52 Division Headquarters to coincide with the forthcoming 69th Independence Day celebrations.

On the directions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 52 Division, Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi and Civil Coordinating Officer, 52 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Ushan Gunawardana together with 104 Army personnel of the 52 Division donated their blood since Jaffna Blood Bank has run short of blood, urgently needed for patients waiting to undergo surgeries.

Dr M Sivanija at Jaffna Teaching Hospital and her staff gave their assistance to conduct this blood donation camp.
