Jaffna SF Headquarters Turns 22 Years Old

The Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) marked its 22nd anniversary with a series of events during 17-25 June 2018.

The series of programmes commenced on 17 June after paying floral tributes to the memory of fallen War Heroes at the War Heroes’ Monument, followed by religious observances including a Pirith chanting and a Bodhi Pooja on Monday (18).

A Shramadana campaign on the following day (19) was organized at the Cancer Hospital - Thelippalai. A musical evening on Wednesday (20) entertained the troops in the SFHQ-J premises on the same day.

It provided amusement and mental relaxation to the troops until late night, where Officers too enjoyed the evening.

On the day of the anniversary, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force - Jaffna was honoured in a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour in keeping with military formalities. He added importance to the occasion by planting a sapling in the SFHQ-J premises.

He later visited the patients in the Palaly Army Base Hospital and spoke to them. All ranks on the same day assembled under one roof for a fellow-lunch treat.

A special Dinner Night that took place afterwards at Thalsevana Holiday Resort for the first time in the history of the SFHQ-J offered more recognition to the 22nd anniversary.

A blood donation campaign, held at the Army Base Hospital - Palali in collaboration with the Staff at the Teaching Hospital - Jaffna on 23 June 2018 brought the anniversary arrangements to end. (See separate story “Soldiers Donate their Blood to Jaffna Hospital” on News Features)
