Jaffna Security Forces with Philanthropists' Support Build Two more Houses for the Needy

Continuing its community-oriented projects further, 2 Battalion Gemunu Watch (2 GW) and 7 Battalion Gajaba Regiment (7 GR) troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi built two new houses for two families living in abject poverty in the general area under the Thelppalai Divisional Secretariat area.

Construction of those houses was made possible due to financial generosity, extended by Mr. Mohan Shankar and Mrs Vadhani Shankar on account of their son, Vikash Shankar's 22 birthday anniversary. In addition, the donors provided furniture to both families at own expense as an incentive to children of those beneficiaries.

Grama Seva officials and senior citizens in the area brought the hapless flight of families of Vijaya Kumar Sindujan and Sinnapullai Sivanaviyan to the notice of the Jaffna Commander a few weeks ago, prompting the Commander to seek possibilities for helping them.

On a simple ceremony, held at Thelippalai, saw those two new furnished houses being formally handed over to both families in the presence of the donors, giving pride of place to Hindu religious traditions.

Mr. Siva Sri, Divisional Secretariat for Thelippalai, state officials, well-wishers, relatives and local residents also participated in the opening event. url clone | Trending
