Jaffna G.C.E A/L Achievers Given Financial Incentives

Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ - J) in collaboration with the Lions Club 306 B2, Makola branch appreciated achievers in the recent G.C.E Advanced Level (A/L) examination in a special ceremony held at the SFHQ-J auditorium on Friday (2) by awarding more financial grants for their higher studies.

The ceremony awarded 3 scholarships to those who achieved best results in the recent examination for their continuation of studies. Makola-based Lions Club 306 B2 sponsored those scholarships, together with a stock of special gifts for those achievers.

Island-wide G.C.E A/L results confirmed that a large number of Jaffna students became qualified to enter the universities for degree studies. Student, Sritharan Thuvarakan of Hartly College, Jaffna - 1st in the Island in Physical Science Stream, Student, Raymond Daysius Jeyarajan Paul Janson of St. Patrick's College, Jaffna - 3rd in the Island in Physical Science Stream and the Student, Kamaleswary Senthilnathan of Vembadi Girl's High School, Jaffna - 3rd in the Island in Bio Systems Technology Stream were each given Rs. 5000/= per month to continue with their higher education for a period of one year.

Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, together with Sinha Chandani Nanayakkara, Vice President and members of the 306 B2 Lions Club - Makola, principals, teachers and parents of respective schools attended the occasion.
