Jaffna Christmas Arrangements Now on Display

The inauguration of the Christmas and New Year festivities in Jaffna, near the esplanade adjacent to the Weerasingham Hall took place on Friday (19) at 7.00 p.m. in a brief ceremony, attended by Jaffna Bishop Rev. Dr. Thomas Saundranayagam, clergies of other faiths, Major General Jagath Alwis, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and a gathering of invitees.

Jaffna Christmas arrangements with a number of sale stalls, including clothes, confectionaries, food items, toys, etc amid musical entertainments and fun-making events, will continue till December 25 morning.

Christmas carols, huge Christmas tree, Christmas pandol and a large crib on display for visitors entering the site free of charge, add colour to the conduct of the arrangement.

Members of the Army and Jaffna school children meanwhile added festive spirits to the site presenting Carols. Colombo Agni group entertains the spectators in grand musical entertainment that goes on board every evening.  

The carnival that provides amusement to all, including children, consists of merry-go round, different swings, etc and the admission to the site is free of charge to everyone.
