J’Pura Students on Study Tour to North Arrive in Mullaittivu & Jaffna

The 65-member group of post-graduates, graduates, diploma students following the ‘Mass Media and Writing Course’ and lecturers of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura visited the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Sunday (6) as part of a study tour to the North and East of Sri Lanka.

The visiting students were welcomed by Brigadier D.S.A Dehiwaththa, Brigadier Administration and Quartering (BAQ) and Brigadier B.P.S De Silva Brigadier General Staff (BGS) on behalf of the Commander SFHQ-MLT on arrival at the Headquarters premises.

Lieutenant Colonel, A.R Obeysekara, Civil Affairs Officer SFHQ-MLT conducted a briefing and explained the general economic, social and other aspects of Mullaittivu people.

During the visit, students took part in a practical session on ‘War Reporting and Journalism’. Afterwards, visiting students toured Mullaittivu areas of interest.

Exchanged of mementos between students and Senior Officers of the SF-MLT culminated the education tour.

Meanwhile, the same group was received by Brigadier Aruna Muhandiram, the Brigadier General Staff (BGS) at the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) the same evening (6) when they arrived in Jaffna.

Thereafter, the accompanying Mr. Thilak Senanayake explained the purpose of the visit to the audience at the SFHQ-J.

Major Rukman Bandara, General Staff Officer II of the SFHQ-J afterwards conducted a briefing on “Tasks and Responsibilities of the Army” in the Jaffna peninsula.

Afterwards, students were allowed to raise questions with a panel of officers, chaired by Major General Mahesh Senanayake Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.

Towards the end of the interaction, the Security Forces Commander Major General Mahesh Senanayake and visiting students exchanged mementos to mark their visit to the SFHQ-J.
