Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) on the sidelines of the opening of the IT laboratory at 54 Division, Mannar, met representatives of the fishing community in order to resolve several issues and disputes on December 1.
Discussions centered on Kondampiddi fisheries harbor and Vedithalattivu fishermen who have been affected due to different issues, related to their fishing and anchoring of their boats.
Possibilities for relocating a new jetty in the area as an alternative option were also explored during discussions.
Chairman, Mannar Fishermen’s Society, other representatives of peripheral fishing communities, senior Army officers, 54 Division General Officer Commanding and several others attended the meeting.
