Inter Divisional Squash Championship-2014 in Wanni Comes to a Close

The Inter Divisional Squash Championship-2014 of the Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) drew to a close on Wednesday (10) at the SFHQ-W squash court, leaving new hopes.

Brigadier J.C Gamage, Brigade Commander, 612 Brigade championed the event beating all other 41 individual participants and Colonel J.M Abeyrathna, Colonel Administration and Quartering, 61 Division was placed the runner-up.

The squash tournament saw its birth following an initiative of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W. It was organized by 10 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) with the intention of promoting sports skills of the soldiers serving the SFHQ-W.

Prior to the finals, a series of squash matches were played under the supervision of Colonel M.A.D.S Munasinghe, Commanding Officer (CO), 10 SLA.

Major General Boniface Perera attended the closing event as the chief guest. General Officers Commanding,  Brigade Commanders, officers and other ranks of the SFHQ-W were present at this evening event.
