Inter Battalion Elle and Tug of War Tournaments Held in KLN

65 & 66 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) organized the year’s initial Elle and Tug of War competitions as sports programmes at the Parevipachchan Public Grounds in Kilinochchi on Wednesday (4).

Inter Battalion Elle Tournament was organized by the 15 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under the close supervision of the 661 Brigade and under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 66 Division.

A total of ten different teams from Brigades and Battalions took part in the events.

9 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) and 2 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) teams vied in the finals and 9 SLSC emerged the champions.

Meanwhile, the Inter Battalion Tug of War Tournament kicked off on the same day at the same venue on the directions of the GOC, 65 Division.

Thirty three different teams from under command Brigades and Battalions participated in the tournament. 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 24 Gemunu Watch (GW) teams entered the finals and 10 SLLI finally clinched the championship while 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment gained the third slot.

Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN), graced the event as the Chief Guest and awarded the trophies to the winners.

General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers Senior officers, Officers and other ranks under command to the SFHQ-KLN participated in the awarding ceremony.
