Injured VIR War Heroes Receive Warmth From Seva Vanitha

THE VIJAYABAHU Infantry Regiment (VIR) Seva Vanitha Unit recently organized several donations for those receiving rehabilitation at Ranaviru Sevana, Ragama.

Mrs. Nilanthi De Silva, President Vijayabahu Infantry Seva Vanith Unit, accompanied by several Seva Vanitha members went to see those recuperating soldiers and handed them an electronic wheelchair, worth Rs. 300,000/= plus cash donations and several other items. This special wheelchair is to be given for the use of Private T. Dayarathna of 9 VIR, a totally paralyzed War Hero who is also partly blind due to terrorist attacks during the height of humanitarian operations.       

Another wheel chair was donated to Lance Corporal S.P.S. Siripala of 7th VIR who is also paralyzed below his hip. On the same occasion, a cash donation of Rs. 25,000/= was delivered to 2nd Lieutenant D.U.S.K. Wanigasinghe of 5th VIR who lost his sight completely after fighting in Wanni. The donation is to be used for completion of the construction of his bathroom at home. The donation was  sponsored  by Mrs. Indra de Alwis Sepala and family in memory of their son Captain G.P.R.N.H. Mudiyanse of 6 VIR who was killed in action at Mullaithivu on 18th July 1996.
