Indian &;amp; US Delegates on Tour to Jaffna Meet Jaffna Commander

Two delegations from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and US State Department recently visited Jaffna peninsula with a view to receiving an update on ongoing community-oriented different projects and security matters.

Mr M.K Sinha, Joint Secretary (personnel) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, accompanied by Mr V. Mahalingam, Jaffna-based Consular General for India, visited the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J) as one part of his itinerary in the peninsula.

In the meantime, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander SFHQ-J recently received a four-member delegation of the US State Department who were on tour to the Jaffna peninsula.

Both delegations during cordial meetings at the SFHQ-J learnt of numerous welfare projects, reconciliation moves and different other programmes that have been launched by the Security Forces in cooperation with civil authorities.

The US delegation was comprised of Mr Stephen J. Rapp, Department of State Ambassador-at-large for the Office of Global Criminal Justice, Mr. Dean Kaplan, Special Assistant, Mr Christopher Gunning US Embassy’s Deputy Political Chief and Ms Padmini Raajadurrai, US Embassy’s   Political Specialist.
