Indian Embassy Official &;amp; UN Reps Tour Wanni &;amp; Mullaittivu Areas

Defence Attaché at Colombo’s High Commission for India, Captain S. Kapoor during the weekend (6-7) visited Wanni and paid a courtesy call to the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W).

During his stopover at the SFHQ-W, he received an update on the ongoing infrastructure development work, resettlement, economic progress and security in the Wanni region from the SFHQ-W senior officers on behalf of its Commander who was away. The discussion was attended by Brigadier A.K.P Wickremasinghe, Brigadier A.P De Z Wickremaratne and Colonel N.K Wadugodapitiya of the SFHQ-W.

Meanwhile, UN Resident representative in Sri Lanka made his first official visit to the Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), last Wednesday (3) and received a full account of prevailing ground realities from the Commander SFHQ-MLT.

Meanwhile, Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander SFHQ-MLT co-chaired the progress review meeting on the proposed ‘Relocation Village’ at Kombavil under Puthukkudiyirippu Divisional Secretariat area on Wednesday (3).

District Secretary for Mullaittivu, representatives from UN, INGOs and NGOs took part in the progress review meeting and expressed the view that it could be a reality soon.
