A Basketball Team of the Indian Army as part of the ongoing Army to Army Sports exchange programme arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (01) to participate in two friendly matches with their counterparts in the Sri Lanka Army.
The 14 member team received at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport by Lieutenant Colonel Priyantha Abeysinghe, Secretary, Sri Lanka Army Basketball Committee will vie against Sri Lankan players at Army Basketball courts at Army cantonment, Panagoda indoor stadium during two matches on Thursday (01) and Friday (02).
The exchange programme came in to effect as a proposal of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva has by now conducted several such friendly Volleyball, Kabbadi and Hockey matches.
On the instruction of Brigadier G. J. A. W. Galagamage, Director Army Sports and Chairmen, Sri Lanka Army Basketball Committee all arrangements have been finalized in this connection.
