ICRC Head Pays Courtesy Call on Commander


Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sri Lanka Ms Cherine Pollini Tuesday (19) evening, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at Army Headquarters.

Ms Pollini who has been the Head of the ICRC in Sri Lanka since April 2013 was accompanied to the Commander’s office by a senior ICRC official.

Lieutenant General Ratnayake acknowledged the services that have been so far rendered by the ICRC with gratitude and expressed the Army’s willingness to maintain existing good relations with the ICRC in the future, too.

The brief and cordial meeting at the Commander’s office was attended by Major General S. Ranasinghe, Military Secretary and Brigadier R. Nugera, Director Training.

Towards the end of the meeting, the Commander, symbolic of continuing goodwill and relations, presented a memento to the visiting Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross before her departure.
