Hundreds of More Flood-Affected in Kilinochchi & 190 Poverty-Stricken Passara Students Get School Incentives

Record 533 students from Shammugarathnam Maha Vidyalaya, Kalavettithidal, Nageshwara Vidyalaya in the 57 Division area and Karukkathivu Maha Vidyalaya, Paranthan Hindu Maha Vidyalaya, Kiranchi Government Tamil Mixed School, Valeipadu Roman Catholic College, Veravil Hindu School in the 66 Division area of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi were the beneficiaries for receipt of a huge donation of school accessories and bags, thanks to the sponsorship provided by the 'Neth' FM Media Network in Colombo on Thursday (17).

Army troops in both areas closely coordinated and organized those donations after selecting flood-affected students in respective areas in consultation with Grama Seva officials and school authorities. The distribution, organized on the guidelines given by Major General Ralph Nugera, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi took place during separate arrangements at 57 Division and 66 Division in both areas.

Meanwhile, the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) on the instructions of Major General Ruwan De Silva, Commander, Security Forces - Central, considering poverty factor in remote areas gave away a large stock of school accessories to 190 students of low-income families at Ranugalla Maha Vidyalaya, Passara on Thursday (17).

Following the generosity extended by a group of donors and philanthropists, the donation was coordinated by the Civil Affairs Officer at the SFHQ-Cen.

In the meantime, a representative group of Southern Provincial Council members on Friday (18) distributed a stock of school accessories among 303 flood-affected students at Kilinochchi Kanagambigaikulam Vidyalaya, pre-school requirements among another group of 42 kids and another consignment of dry rations, nutrients and essentials for 107 needy families in flood-affected Rathnapuram area in Kilinochchi.

The distribution of those essentials was coordinated by the SFHQ-KLN on the guidelines given by Major General Ralph Nugera, Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi. 571 Brigade Commander, together with 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops on the instructions of Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, GOC, 57 Division organized the distribution ceremony on behalf of the donors.
