Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) was honoured conferring the honorary title, ‘Desha Keerthi Lanka Puthra’ on Friday (1) during a special ceremony held at the ‘Sandahiru Seya’ premises at Anuradhapura.
The honorary title, awarded unanimously by members of the Maha Sangha of Sri Lanka Ramanna Nikaya as a recognition of the services that have been rendered to the Wanni region by the laureate, serves a fitting tribute not only to the recipient but also to the Sri Lanka Army.
Ven. Napana Pemasiri Thero, Mahanayake of Sri Ramanna Nikaya presented the honorary title to the laureate in the special scroll containing the parchment.
During the same ceremony, disable soldiers under rehabilitation at the ‘Abimansala - 1’, Anuradhapura were given special gift parcels, organized by Sulugulu Viharaya under the supervision of Ven Anuradhapura Dhammarama Thero.
The ceremony was addressed by Most Ven. Napana Pemasiri Nayaka Thero, Ven. Pothane Dhammananda Thero, Most Ven. Welamitiyawe Dhamma Keerthi Sri Kusala Dhamma Nayake Thero and Ven. Medithiyawela Madhangara Thero.
A large gathering, including the Bishop Norbert Marshall Andradi attended the felicitation ceremony.
