Here are Top-Rung Tiger Leaders Perished

MULLAITTIVU: THE cream of the LTTE organization appears to be fast dying off, unable to meet the resistance of the troops who have now shown up at the doorstep to the No Fire Zone where Tigers are holding hundreds of Tamil civilians captive, barring them from moving into government-held areas.

 Over a dozen of top-rung Tiger leaders, including PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area leader, THAVABALASINGHAM alias THEEPAN alias TANGOPAPA alias THEEBAN, special women’s leader VIDUSHA, Leader for “MALATHI Regiment”, KEERTHI, PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU Military Leader, SUNDARAM alias NAGESH, Military Leader for PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU area NADARASA alias GOPAL, Leader for “KUTTI Sri Mortar Regiment”, DURUGA, special leader for LTTE “SODIYA Regiment”, GADAFFI alias VIDUTHALAI alias AMUDAN, Leader for LTTE Special Training  School, MANIWANNAN, Leader for LTTE “Artillery Regiment”, and MOHAN, Senior Leader for “SODIYA Regiment” were among the senior Tigers to have died in the confrontations that led to the complete fall of  PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU. 

 Descriptive details, pertaining to some of those dead top LTTE leaders are as follows;

(a)  VIDUSHA  alias YALINI alias PERIYA AKKA, the special leader of the MALATHI Regiment, had participated in the attack on POONARYN Army camp complex on 11November 1993, attack on MULLAITHIVU camp on 18 July 1996, counter attack on operation JAYASIKURU on 1997 and attack on MAVADIWEMBU Army detachment on 21 March 2007. Born in NELLIADY in JAFFNA, VIDUSHA led her cadres during the attacks on Security Forces Forward Defence Lines at MUHAMALAI, NAGARKOVIL, and KILALIY in JAFFNA and counter attack against the Security Forces on operations to liberate the west of GIANT TANK in MANNAR September 2007. VIDUSHA was the Sub commander of LTTE female cadres in MANNAR against government Security Forces advancing in PARAPPAKANDAL area. She also was the leader of the terrorist groups on offensives against the government forces in UYLANKULAM and ANANDAKULAM since February 2008, VANNERIKULAM, NACHCHIKUDA & JEYAPURAM areas in August 2008, AKKARAYANKULAM, POONARIYN and PARANTHAN areas in October 2008, ADAMPAN, MUTHTHIYANKATTU, SILAWATTA, DARMAPURAM, PULIYANPOKKANE, VISUAMADU east and UDAYARKATTU and SUGANDIRAPURAM areas in December 2008 and January/February 2009. However, the date she joined the LTTE is not known.

(b) DURGA whose date of birth and the address are beyond assertion was the special leader of the SODIYA Regiment who is said to have participated in  POONARYN Army camp complex on 11 November 1993, counter attack on operation JAYASIKURU on 01 Juny1997 and the counter attack on operation AGNIKEELA – 1 in 2001. She also led her female cadres against troops in MUHAMALEI, NAGERKOVIL and KILALIY FDLs on 11th August 2006.











(c) GADAFFI alias VIDUTHALAI  alias AMUDAN is beleieved to have been born in in 1961 at KOTTAWAWATTHA, NELLIADI in JAFFNA.   GADAFFI, the terrorist in charge of LTTE Special training and training Schools, was the second leader of IMRAN PANDIYAN group and Sea Tiger wing of the LTTE. He was engaged in special training in PALLAI KUDIYIRIPPU   before the MULLATTIVU attack on 15 June 1996. LTTE formed their RPG commando Regiment during operation JAYASIKURU under GADAFFI’s leadership who conducted special training on camp attack in 2000 at KARADIYANNARU.







(d) GOPAL
alias DUSIYANTHAN alias NADARASA was the terrorist in charge of KUTTI SRI mortar Regiment of the LTTE.




















(e) KEERTHI
alias PODIMAHESHWARAN alias MANIKKAM born in BATTICALOA in 1968 was the LTTE’s military leader PUTHTHUKUDIYRIPPU area when he was declared killed by the troops during confrontations in Sunday (5) at PUTHUKUDIYIRIPPU. A resident from NAHATKATTU NAHAMBIRAN KOVIL road, PANDARIYAWELI, ARASADITIVU, KEERTHI had taken part in LTTE many military and intelligence operations against the troops. Attack on the POONARYN Army camp on 11th November 1993, counter attack on Security Forces operation JAYASIKURU in 1997, KILINOCHCHI attack in 1998,  attack on Security Forces Forward Defence Line at THAMPANAI, VAVUNIYA in 1998, attack on an Army convoy running between MANNAR and CHEDDIKULAM and LTTE operation unceasing waves 111 in 1999 at ODDUSUDAN are some of major operations he took part in. He received gunshot injuries in his abdomen and thighs during return after an attempt to fire missiles to an aircraft at a place close to AANURADHAPURA. He had been present in LTTE counter attack on Security Forces humanitarian operation in VAKARAI from 11 November 2006 to 21January 2007 and THOPPIGALA from 24 February 2007 to 01 July 2007. SELVARATHNAM SUNDARAM alias NAGESH was a military leader in PUTHUKUDIYIRIPPU area.  He was said to have been born on 15 January 1970. KOVILPORATHIVU, PERIYAPORATHIVU and PILLUMALAI, BATTICALOA are the usual addresses he had been reportedly present. According to intelligence reports, NAGESH had participated in counter attack on Security Forces’ operation JAYASIKURU in 1997 and 1998, LTTE operation OYADA ALAIGAL on 27 September 1998 in Kilinochchi, LTTE attack on KAJUWATTA Army camp on 14 December 1999, attack on MAVADIWEMBU Army detachment on 21 March 2007, counter attacks on operation VAKARAI from 11 November 2006 to 21 January 2007, counter attacks on operation THOPPIGALA from 24 February 2007 to 11 July 2007 and counter attack against the liberation of PALAMODDAI area in July and August 2008.

(f) THEEPAN alias SIVATHEEPAN alias THAVABALASINGHAM alias TANGO PAPA was reportedly born in VAVUNIYA. He had been present in three addresses, MURUSUMODDAI South and KUDUMIYAN, VARANI, JAFFNA and UDUTHTHURAI North, THALAIADI, MULLAITTIVU. He was a senior military leader in PUTHUKUDIYERUPPU area. Before that he had participated in MULLIYAVALAI attack, MANKULAM Attack on 22nd November 1990, KOKAVIL attack on 12th July 1990 and LTTE operation OYADA ALIGAL 03 stage 11 in THUNUKAI and VATTKACHCHI on 11th December 1999. He also had led cadres in a most number of attacks and counter attacks during his stay with the LTTE. Operation BALAVEGAYA on 10th January 1991,  JANAKAPURA attack on 24th July 1993, POONARYN attack on 11th November 1993, WELIOYA attack on 28th July 1995, counter attack on operation RIVIRESA in 1995, MULLAITIVU attack on 18 July 1996, counter attack on operation SATHJAYA in 1996, counter attack on operation JAYASIKRUI in 1997, attack on KILINOCHCHI and PARANTHAN on 27th September 1998,  LTTE operation OYADA ALIGAL 03 stage 111in ELEPHANT PASS on 27th March 2000, LTTE operation OYADA ALIGAL 03 stage 1V in ELEPHANT PASS on 01st May 2000, attack on MUHAMALAI and NAGARKOVIL Security Forces FDLs on 11th August 2006, counter attack at MUHAMALAI LTTE FDL on 11 October 2006, counter attack at LTTE FDL in MUHAMALAI on 23 April 2008, counter attack during liberation of VELANKULAM in July and August 2008, counter attack during liberation MULANGAVIL in August 2008, counter attack against the Security Forces during liberation of THUNUKKAI and UYILANKULAM in August 2008, attack on the Security Forces Headquarters (WANNI) complex and Sri Lanka Air Force base in VAUNIYA on 09 September 2008, attack against the SF attack in Liberation AKKARAYANKULAM area in September 2008, counter attack against the troops at MUHAMALAI, KILALY and NAGARKOVIL on 15 November 2008, counter attack against the troops during liberation of PARANTHAN, KUNJIPARANTHAN and KILINOCHCHI in December 2008, counter attack against the troops during liberation of ELEPHANT PASS in January 2009, counter attack against the troops during liberation of PULIYANPOKKANEI and DARMAPURAM in January 2009 and counter attack against the troops during liberation of VISUAMADU in February 2009.
