HAHN Talks About ‘Diabetes’ at Army Hospital

The ongoing ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) project of the Army Hospital conducted another programme at the Army Hospital auditorium at Narahenpita on Monday (21) to coincide with the World Diabetes Day (14 Nov) .

The HAHN project included the conduct of health examination clinics, educational programmes and lectures on Diabetes and its complications. Those features were carried out during Monday’s programme.

Brigadier (Dr) A.S.M Wijewardene, Head of the HAHN project and Mr N.M.S. Hettigedara, Nutritionist spoke at length on non-communicable diseases and explained their complications stressing the need to prevent them.

Parallel to the lecture session, a clinic to screen sugar levels and blood pressure and measuring of Body Mass Index (BMI) was also conducted at the same venue by members of the HAHN project as part of the day’s programme.

Brigadier (Dr) A.S.M Wijewardene, Head of the HAHN project highlighted the importance of organizing such awareness programmes during the inaugural session of its launch.

A large gathering including senior Army officers, other rankers and relatives of servicemen participated in the event.
