Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) on Monday (11) welcomed their newly-appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General S.R. Manawaduge with a series of programmes at the Regimental Headquarters in Panagoda.
The programme kicked off with Major General Manawaduge paying tribute to the fallen SLA war heroes at the SLA War Heroes Monument.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by SLA troops saluted Major General Manawaduge at the Parade Grounds after he was welcomed by Brigadier W.D.C.K. Costa, Center Commandant, SLA.
Afterwards, Major General Manawaduge signed an official document, symbolizing the assumption of duties as Colonel Commandant amidst religious observances.
A troop address, planting of a tree sapling and an all rank lunch culminated the day’s proceedings.
Senior SLA officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event.
