Group of Rotary Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University Meets SF-J Commander

A 29-member delegation of Thailand’s Rotary Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University, headed by Prof. Surichai Wungaeo, Director, Rotary Peace Centre called at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Sunday (26) during a tour to the North.

Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) who extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation presented a detailed account about Jaffna’s geography, demography, economy and civil administration and updated them on the present situation in the peninsula.

During the discussions, Commander, SF-J explained to them on their contribution to the Rehabilitation Programme for Internally Displaced People (IDP).

Commander, SF-J further briefed the role and responsibilities of civil-military relations in the reconciliation mechanism in the peninsula during this meet.

After the cordial interaction, Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander SF-J and Prof. Surichi Wungaeo, Director, Rotary Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University exchanged mementos to mark their visit to the SFHQ-J.

Before the end of the visit, Prof. Surichi Wungaeo placed his signature in the Visitors’ Book to mark their memorable visit to the SFHQ-J and extended their warm wishes to the SFHQ-J.

At the end of the itinerary, they visited the newly-resettled village ‘Nellinakkapuram’ before leaving Jaffna.
