General Parvez Kayani Meets DSCSC Undergraduates

The final leg of the itinerary of the visiting General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, commenced Friday (21) morning at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda.

General Parvez Kayani on arrival at the DSCSC at Sapugaskanda was warmly received by Commandant DSCSC Major General J.C Rambukpotha and conducted to the officers’ mess before commencement of the day’s programme.

The stage was then set to listen to General Kayani at the DSCSC auditorium on the invitation of the DSCSC Commandant. General Kayani during his address to the student officers recalled existing military relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan for generations and uninterrupted conduct of ongoing training programmes for Sri Lankan military officers.

General Kayani also had the privilege of honouring the chief patron of the Quetta Association and two other former graduates of the Army Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan.

The oldest and the most prestigious Institution of the Pakistan Army, the Command and Staff College, Quetta, (C&SC), National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad and the School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T), Quetta, Pakistan are used to provide training opportunities to Tri-service officers in Sri Lanka on a regular basis. 

Prior to his departure from the DSCSC, the Commandant Major General Rambukpotha presented the visiting Pakistan’s military chief with a special memento as a token of goodwill and appreciation of his visit to the DSCSC.

Meanwhile spouse of the visiting General Mrs. Begum Zahida Kayani accompanied by Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya visited Ranaviru Sevana, the centre where disabled War Heroes are being rehabilitated. She admired the steps taken for the rehabilitation of the War Heroes and a gift handcrafted by the inmates was presented to the visiting lady by the inmates.
