Gagan Malik Expresses His Thankfulness to Army for Production Assistance Given

The Indian screen idol,Gagan Malik who through his cinematic saga,"Sri Siddhartha Gautama" shot to fame overnight and robbed the hearts of world-wide cinema-goers, depicting the life history of Lord Gautama Buddha, called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, together with the film producer, Dr Naveen Gooneratne to express their gratitude to the Army for its invaluable assistance during the film-making process. The interaction took place on Friday (6) at Army Headquarters.

Both of them spoke high of Army support received during shooting at difficult terrains and  specific remote locations since the producers or directors were not very much familiar with those rural areas and different settings. A pictorial dossier produced on the film by Dr Gooneratne was also presented to the Commander of the Army at the same occasion as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude.

Lt General Ratnayaka made use the occasion to introduce both  visitors to Major General Chrishantha de Silva, Chief of Staff and Major General Piyal Abeysekera, Deputy Chief of Staff who were associated with the coordination of Army assistance to this project. All of them shared views on the success story of the production and responses received from every corner of the world, including millions of buddhists in foreign nations.
