Distribution of free meals and refreshments among civilians in various parts of Mullaittivu on account of Poson Full Moon Poya Day (June 12) occurred throughout the day following arrangements, made by the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
A few more than 600 teachers and students at Puthukkuddiyirippu Sri Subraminiam Primary School enjoyed a sumptuous lunch served by the troops serving the 68 Division of the SFHQ-MLT. On the same occasion, troops handed over newly-painted and repaired school desks and chairs to the principal of the same school.
14 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 29 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 681 Brigade meanwhile conducted a ‘Dansela’ (provision of lunch) to the people in Vellamullivaikkal area to mark the event.
Similarly, 16 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), 18 VIR and 23 SLNG troops serving the 682 Brigade held a grand rice Dansela near Puthukkuddiyirippu Junction and later on served lunch to the inmates and staff at the Puthukkuddiyirippu hospital on the same occasion.
In the meantime, hundreds of civilians in Vishvamadu area enjoyed a lunch treat, offered by the troops at 683 Brigade. It has been organized by the troops of the 5 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) and 7 Gemunu Watch (GW).
In addition, troops in other areas organized distribution of refreshments among civilians in Mullaittivu Town areas on the Full Moon Poya Day.
