Football Association (FA) Challenge Trophy Winners Meet Army Commander

The FA Cup tournament was held at the Sugathadasa Outdoor Stadium, Colombo on 11 May.

During the tournament, Army team vied with several other football teams such as the Civil Security Department (CSD) team, Brilliant Sports Club, Air Force team, Colombo Sports Club and Renowned Sports Club and scored high marks. 

The best goal keeper was Corporal W.G.N.K Sirisena of 7 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) and the valuable sportsman’s trophy went to Warrant Officer II (WO II) K.W.S.D Wijesiri of 7 Military Intelligence Corps (MIC).

In the FA Cup finals, Army footballers carried away the championship. 

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva shared a couple of thoughts with the winners and appreciated them for their achievements.

The winners in the annual Football Association (FA) Cup, played at Sugathadasa Stadium met the Commander of the Army on Thursday (23) and received his congratulations.
