First Stock of Spectacles Distributed in Koddikaman

Another community welfare project spearheaded jointly by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and ‘Susarana Lanka’ Social Development Foundation of the Malwathu Maha Viharaya gave away eye glasses free of charge after conducting mobile eye clinic a few weeks ago.

Following coordination done by the Lieutenant Colonel W.D.R.J Karunarathne, Commanding Officer, 15 Gajaba Regiment (GR) on the directions of Brigade Commander, 522 Brigade, Colonel Kamal Pinnawala, medical staff of the ‘Susarana Lanka’ foundation at first conducted the mobile clinic to screen civilians with vision impairments before the needy people were selected for spectacles.

To symbolize the inauguration the project, 522 Brigade on Sunday (7) distributed 23 pairs of eye spectacles under the first phase.

Brigade Commander, 522 Brigade, Colonel Kamal Pinnawala attended the event as the Chief Guest.

The project was launched with the blessings of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.

Representative officials of ‘Susarana Lanka’ Social Development Foundation, Senior Officers and project beneficiaries were present at the occasion.
