CHAMINDA WIJEKOON of Sri Lanka Army won the first medal for Sri Lanka at 18th Asian Athletic Meet being held in Gu-Angshu, China.
He won the Silver medal in 1500 m for men’s on Wednesday (11) finishing the event in 3 minutes and 47. 08 seconds, just 0.07 seconds behind the gold medalist of the event Mohommed Omman of Kazakhstan.
After the event, Wijekoon thanked the present Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasooriya and his former coach the Late Brigadier Perry Liyanage and all others who helped him in his athletic carrier.
