Final Touches Given to Independence Day Parade

Final preparations for conduct of the 67th Independence Day (February 4) are now underway at the Battaramulla Parliament grounds with the rehearsals of the military parade.

On Monday (2) morning, accompanied by Mr Uthpala Basnayake, Secretary Defence, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force, Inspector General of Police, went to the venue to review the arrangements.

All of them speaking to various segments of the parade including Commanding Officers of the parade, gave necessary instructions for further improvement.

Major General Sumedha Perera is to command the Independence Day parade. Chief of Defence Staff, Director General of the Civil Defence Force, Chief of Staff at Army Headquarters, senior officers and a group of state officials were also at the venue for review.
