Fellow-Soldiers Volunteer to Build New Home for Bereaved Family of SLNG Soldier

17 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 62 Division serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) volunteered to construct a new house for a fellow-soldier of the 5 SLNG who died of a heart attack while serving the 5 SLNG Headquarters.

On Thursday (8) 17 SLNG troops under the directions of the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, Major General B.H.M.A Wijesinghe laid the cornerstone for construction of the new house at Ethawetunuwewa where the deceased’s family lives with children.

On the directions of the Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG, Brigadier W.M.M.W.B Thammita, SLNG Centre Commandant, together with the day’s Chief Guest Major General B.H.M.A Wijesinghe attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony at the auspicious minute.

On the directions of the SLNG Colonel of the Regiment, a stock of dry rations, school accessories and other essential household requirements were donated to the bereaved family to coincide with the inauguration of the construction project.

The cost of the construction is to be borne by fellow-Army personnel, private donors and other well-wishers of the family.

Mr Vijitha Gamage, National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) Chairman for Mullaittivu District also assured support for the construction through the NHDA.
