Family of Fallen GR War Hero Moves into New House at Gonapola

All Ranks of the Gajaba Regiment (GR), following an initiative of Major General Shavendra Silva, Colonel of the Regiment, Gajaba Regiment (GR) and Adjutant General at the Army Headquarters came forward to assist the family of a fallen War Hero by constructing a new house as a symbol of tribute to his sacrifice.

The new home at Gonapola, Horana for this fallen War Hero, Sergeant E.M Keerthirathna of 6 GR was vested with the family members on Friday (26) in a simple ceremony, headed by the Colonel of the Regiment, GR. Troops of his Regiment and others sponsored the construction and offered their technical assistance.

The War Hero, Sergeant was killed in action (KIA) at Paranthan on 26 December 1996 while fighting against LTTE terrorists. After the keys were handed to the family, rites and rituals for house-warming followed.
