'Exercise - Cormorant Strike' Opens Sky for Para Jumps

'Exercise - Cormorant Strike V1I - 2016', of the Sri Lanka Army is currently underway with the participation of Army, Navy, Air Force troops and a record 58 foreign participants and observers in Kokilai area.

The Exercise kicked off on 04 September and will conclude on 20 September.

On Wednesday (06) 06 parachutists of the Special Forces in ongoing Exercise observed an enemy fortification in Verugal area and launched a Combat Free Fall in order to observe those mock hide-outs.  Another Exercise, ‘Combat Heli Raffling’ was conducted by two 8 man teams in the general area of Welikanda by the Special Force soldiers.

The Exercise, covering Pulmudai to North of Arugam Bay in the East is to be coupled with simultaneous mock seaborne and airborne operations and is slated to further promote special operation capabilities and maintain combat readiness at all levels with a view to transmitting and sharing the sea of experiences the Sri Lanka Army, had gathered in the world's biggest and most successful humanitarian operation before May 2009.

The Exercise is planned and executed by Exercise Headquarters Cormorant Strike, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at Diyatalawa and Directorate of training under the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.
