Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) in keeping with the ongoing civil - military cooperation programmes took steps recently to construct two houses, one of which after completion with patronage of the ‘Gauthama Daruwo Arya Foundation,’ was vested in a needy family during a brief house-warming ceremony.
Following information confirmed by the Grama Seva official, the SFHQ-E with the financial assistance of the ‘Gauthama Daruwo Arya Foundation’ selected the widowed civilian, A.K Sujith Perera with two children who was living in a hut, made of wattle and daub for donation of the first house at Aselapura, Welikanda. The new house was built at a cost of Rs 5 lakhs and SFHQ-E troops provided technical expertise, needed for the construction.
On the day of the opening, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E) laid the cornerstone for construction of another new house in the same area for a needy family. The same charity organization will provide funds for the raw materials. SFHQ-E troops are to erect this new house, too.
